Vision & Purpose

The Applied Mechanics Society (AMS) is a voluntary student–faculty body of the Department of Applied Mechanics, IIT Delhi, committed to strengthening academic and professional interaction within the department.

Our vision is to foster a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative community where students actively engage beyond classrooms, develop leadership skills, and contribute meaningfully to the department’s growth.

AMS organizes a wide range of technical and non-technical activities, including workshops, expert talks, competitions, interactive sessions, and cultural events throughout the academic year.

Events & Activities

Annual Day

A flagship event celebrating the achievements of the society and the department, featuring cultural performances, speeches, and recognition of members.

STIC Dinner

Student–Teacher Interaction cum dinner — an informal gathering that strengthens bonding between students, faculty, and research scholars.

Annual Sports Event

A week dedicated to sports and physical activities, encouraging teamwork, healthy competition, and community participation.

Freshers’ Interaction

An introductory event aimed at welcoming freshers and helping them interact with seniors and faculty members.

Picnic

A recreational outing organized to strengthen informal interactions and build camaraderie among students and faculty.

TRYST Events

Participation and organization of events during TRYST, IIT Delhi’s annual technical festival, showcasing the society’s institute-wide involvement.
